In this hour-long webinar we will facilitate discussion around strategies for introducing, recycling, and assessing pronunciation including with learners at the very initial stages of their language learning. We will explore some options for addressing the challenging nature of pronunciation learning and teaching such as addressing different needs within the one class and reinforcing learning to assist students to make sustained changes to their ways of speaking. Options for teacher professional development around pronunciation and the integration of pronunciation throughout a program will be discussed.
Teachers of students at all stages of language learning and in all contexts are welcome.
Shem Macdonald is a lecture in Applied Linguistics and TESOL at the School of Education at La Trobe University, Melbourne. His interests are in researching teachers views of pronunciation and how we understand effective spoken communication.
Margaret Corrigan is manager at Carringbush Adult Education in Richmond, Melbourne. She is interested in the professional development of EAL/Literacy teachers.
Elizabeth Keenan is an EAL teacher and mentor at Carringbush Adult Education. She is interested in the teaching of pronunciation, particularly to beginner level learners.
