New to EAL Teaching – Secondary

This event will provide information, support and networking for teachers who are new to teaching Secondary EAL students. It will be facilitated by David Kezilas, EAL Learning Leader at Dandenong High School, and Mark Melican, Principal at Blackburn English Language School.

Whether you are new to teaching altogether as a recent graduate, or have recently moved to a school with a high number of EAL students, this session will help you to better understand the needs of EAL students and how to meet those needs, as well as put you in touch with other teachers in a similar situation.

Topics discussed will include pedagogical approaches to teaching reading, writing, speaking and listening to EAL learners, practical strategies for the EAL classroom, managing assessment, differentiation, and how to get further support.

Light refreshments will be provided.
